I was temporarily calling this self portrait, Olympia in Ink because of the slight similarities to Manet’s Olympia. The model for his controversial work, Victorine Meurent was also a painter. Meurant had the typically male persona of artist as well as the typically female role of object/subject. This incorporating of her roles can be viewed as a challenge to male dominance.
